Randall Reel was born in Hollywood and was taught oil on canvas painting beginning at age 4 by his grandmother who was an accomplished painter and oil painting teacher. Randall painted an impressionistic version of her landscape and still life work until about the mid 80ies. In his teens and early 20ies Randall developed a strong connection with the abstract expressionists' work and was inspired to developed his own precognitive and non-mimetic style to relate moods, insights, and atmosphere utilizing oil, acrylic and textural materials on canvas through approximately 2000. His style has since evolved integrating texture into an architectural vocabulary to convey intuitive introspections and reflections often with juxtaposed and overlapping planes and fields.
