Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the art of transforming the delapidated into the beautiful!
Rusted doors and peeling paint are magnified and high- lighted to the point where we begin to see them in a whole new light. Old becomes new, defunct becomes living, and rather than function, it is "form" that becomes the purpose of these inanimate subjects and their expired registrations.
Having been a gourmet chef since the age of sixteen, Fischer's photographic motivation comes from his travels and residencies throughout the world. Referring to himself as "The Chef in Exile", the German-born artist pulls inspiration from places such as Nantucket, Southern France, New York, Virginia, Aachen, Germany, and Los Angeles where he resides. Working as a private chef in some of the finest mansions in the world, Fischer's photographic compositions are inspired by the light and flow of interior architectural lines and decor.
Fischer was born in Aachen, Germany and graduated with a major in Art History and drawing. He then proceeded to culinary college followed by Photography classes at Park La Brea Art School. |
